Before there was podcasting and before there was youtube, there was public access television! It was fun af to have your own show on Manhattan Neighborhood Network and I did mine for nearly four years.
We recently unearthed a working VCR and a few boxes filled with VHS tapes of my show — Lorne Michaels, Watch This Please.
Back in the day we had a scrolling tv guide channel and each box could only fit a few letters in it, so I figured I’d make it so Lorne Michaels’ name was in my box, hoping to trick people into watching my show. I’m not sure if it worked but at the time I was sure it was marketing genius.
