MACK #101: Joker

Heyooo, we’re back with a movie review episode! This one is all about “Joker.”

There are tons of spoilers in this episode. So, if you haven’t seen the movie and you don’t want to know a lot about it, put this one on the back burner.

Now, to be completely honest, I thought Dave and I would both watch this movie and then just give a regular MACKPodcast type review about it on the show. But Dave really surprised me with his deep dive on this movie and how he thinks it affects society.

His bigger picture hot take on this movie got us both talking and took this episode in a direction I hadn’t planned on.

We both agree that Joker is expertly made, directed, acted, etc. However, the story and the message are just too dark. Joker feels more like a two hour programming/call-to-action propaganda film than it does an entertaining comic book movie.

Also, why does any movie use Gary Glitter songs anymore? The man is a CONVICTED pedophile. Convicted. There’s no doubt he’s a pedophile. Why the fuck would you use his song still? Dave has some interesting opinions about this.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy this episode. Please feel free to email us at middleagedcoolkids at gmail dot com and let us know what you thought about this movie.
